Our
Story

The 7Q Foundation was founded to support families navigating neurodiverse needs, born from the experiences of Zidan Ali. Zidan, a spirited 4-year-old, has a genetic deletion on chromosome 7Q, leading to conditions such as autism, microcephaly, hypotonia, and more. Despite these challenges, Zidan radiates joy and embraces life to the fullest.

His family—parents Hafsa and Ali, and loving older brother Usayd—feel incredibly fortunate to have him in their lives. Through Zidan, they’ve gained a unique perspective on the world, inspiring them to advocate for inclusivity and equal opportunities for all. They believe it’s not about making everyone fit in; rather, it’s about the world adapting to be more inclusive.

With the support of our wonderful community in Virginia, The 7Q Foundation aims to create a space where families can unite under a shared mission.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower every ability by bringing together, creating and finding resources to support the social, emotional, and economic needs of all the families that we serve.

Our Vision

We envision a world where all individuals irrespective of their different ablities have equitable access to opportunities. We want to show the world what inclusivity looks like, so that everyone who believes in it can emulate our model.

Happy Girl

We invite families from around the globe who resonate with our vision to join us in this journey. Together, we can make a difference and show what true inclusivity looks like.

What is 7Q?

To us, 7Q represents our values:

Resilience, Empathy, Community, Grit & Gratitude.

Chromosome 7 is one of the 23 pairs of chromosomes in humans. Q represents the long of chromosome 7.  Zidan Ali was born with a 7MB gene deletion on his 7Q chromosome. He has taught us so much about life but above all he inspired us to form The 7Q Foundation to support the neurodiverse population and their families in non-traditional ways.
